The combination of the roasted notes of hojicha, nuttiness of hazelnut and mellow sweetness of maple syrup blend perfectly together for a comforting and cozy drink.
What You’ll Need:
- 2.5 grams of hojicha
-
1 tbsp maple syrup
- 150ml hazelnut milk
- 50ml hot water (around 75°C / 175°F)
- Ice (optional, if you prefer it iced)
- Hazelnuts (optional)
How To Make It:
Whisk the Hojicha in a matcha bowl, sift your hojicha powder.
Add hot water and whisk with a chasen until smooth and slightly frothy.
The roasted notes should start to bloom, creating a nutty aroma that pairs perfectly with the maple syrup and hazelnut milk.
(Optional) Add a hazelnut rim
Adding a rim of chopped hazelnuts can elevate your drink and is more effortless than it looks. By dipping the rim in maple syrup, it creates a ‘glue’ that will enable the chopped hazelnuts to stick.
Pour and Enjoy
Pour your whisked hojicha into a prepared glass of hazelnut milk with ice. By pouring slowly on top of the ice, you will get beautiful layers that float on top of one another.
To drink, gently stir to blend the hazelnut milk with the rich, toasted flavors of the hojicha, or let the layers swirl naturally for a beautiful presentation.
